Nikhil Raj is an experienced Software Engineer II at Microsoft, with a passion for building enterprise systems that serve millions. He has a strong background in building distributed, scalable, and highly available systems, and is proficient in cloud workload replication. Nikhil is a hands-on hybrid-cloud native app developer, with extensive experience in Microsoft Azure and AWS. He is also a RESTful Microservices developer, having worked with Java, C#, Python, and TypeScript using Spring, .NET, Django, and Angular. Nikhil has been recognized for his exceptional skills and achievements, having been a finalist in the Open Source Global Borathon 2019 and the Smart India Hackathon 2k17. He was also in the Top 10 of the CSR Hackathon at VMware, and was a runner-up in the Code for Good 2017 Hackathon organized by JP Morgan & Chase. Before joining Microsoft, Nikhil worked as a Member of Technical Staff at VMware, where he worked on CloudBot, a tool for analyzing and optimizing public cloud costs. He also set up a CI/CD pipeline for a seamless release process and packaged the application as a Helm Chart for easier management. Nikhil deployed the application on a homegrown Kubernetes SaaS platform. He was also part of the Hands-On Labs team, where he developed robust pipelines for delivering and managing the entire lifecycle of labs to VMware Hands-On Labs portal. He developed tools to monitor cloud resources and streamlined lab development processes, reducing time to market for lab projects. Nikhil holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science from Bangalore University, where he was an active participant in various extracurricular activities. He also holds a Graduation degree in Informatics Practices from Kendriya Vidyalaya.
