Nitesh Sekhar is an Applied Scientist at Amazon, with a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California-San Diego and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur. He has over 3.78 years of relevant experience in the field of Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and AI. Nitesh's inquisitive nature has driven him to learn and gain experience, which he now wants to use to make a positive impact on society. He is fascinated by the achievements of AI in recent years and is enthusiastic about being part of the fast-growing world of Deep Learning. In his current role at Amazon, Nitesh has worked with Prof Contijoch at FCR Laboratory on Deep Learning for Volumetric Data. He has also worked on previous research on semantic segmentation, employing a U-net architecture, achieving impressive IOUs. He created a memory-efficient U-net module with a Conditional Random Field layer at the end, achieving average IOUs of around 80% and also 7x memory optimization. Prior to Amazon, Nitesh worked as a Senior Software Engineer (Computer Vision) at Magic Leap. He was also a teaching assistant for an undergraduate course, held discussion sections every week, taught students topics related to the subject, held office hours every week, and was responsible for grading and creating homework grading rubrics. Nitesh's education history includes a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of California and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur. He also has an Intermediate Board of Education degree from FIITJEE. Apart from work, Nitesh enjoys reading, learning languages, and high thrill activities.
