Nitilaksha Halakatti is a highly motivated and driven Software Engineer with over 5 years of experience in software development. His areas of expertise include scaling Distributed Systems, developing and exploring data stores to solve relevant data problems, and using machine learning to improve the manageability and adoption of systems. Nitilaksha is currently working as a Software Engineer at Splunk, where he is responsible for developing a data lake solution that unifies analytics across multiple Splunk deployments in a single/multi/multi-region org setting while also supporting 3rd party data sources. Nitilaksha enjoys hacking things together and has participated in several hack weeks at Splunk. Some of his past and current hacks include adding Quality of service functionality to Splunk searches and building a scalable pipeline to enable machine learning on Splunk Indexed Data leveraging Spark Dataframes to enable 3rd party data source integration. In his current role at Splunk, Nitilaksha is working on the Federated Search use case to perform search analytics across multiple Splunk cloud deployments while also supporting searching against 3rd party data sources like S3. He is also an Engineer in the Data Fabric Search (DFS) team that scales searches to trillion event scale for high cardinal and high volume data leveraging an optimized version of Apache Spark. Nitilaksha has led the GTM activities for the first data fabric search product GA, driving customer betas for the data fabric search product, creating educational content, training support and sustaining teams, presenting DFS at .conf19, and gaining valuable customer insight by direct customer interaction. Nitilaksha has a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University. He has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota and as a Software Engineer Intern at Vital Images, Inc. where he designed and implemented RESTFUL web services to monitor system health and automate the workflow to detect and troubleshoot the health of the Vitrea product.
