Numan K. is a highly motivated Software Development Engineer with a passion for trading, statistics, machine learning, and photography. Currently employed at Amazon, Numan has been working on solutions for automatically reordering consumables such as printer ink, batteries, and coffee pods when a user is running low on them. He has played a key role in developing the backend service for this project using Java and AWS. Numan has also helped scale the system from a few million customer devices to an order of magnitude more, and launch new features such as the Smart Shelf. As part of Alexa Smart Home, he has collaborated with other teams in Seattle and Dublin. Numan has also served as a 24/7 oncall engineer debugging internal and external issues. Prior to joining Amazon, Numan worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech, where he helped students with homework and projects for Computer Organization (CS 2505). He was also involved in introducing students to Linux, C, and Assembly. At Capital One, Numan worked as a Data Engineer Intern and helped develop the backend of an automated analytics dashboard that monitored data lake events. He used AWS Lambda, AWS RDS (PostgreSQL), Serverless framework, Python (Elasticsearch), and other technologies to complete this project. Numan holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Data Science Capstone) from Virginia Tech College of Engineering, which he completed in December 2020. He also has an Advanced Studies Diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Numan's technical skills include Software Engineering, AWS, Backend Development, Java, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Engineering, and Elastic Search.
