Oindrila Gupta is a software engineer at Mapbox, a leading location data platform, based out of the Bay Area. At Mapbox, Oindrila is responsible for supporting the optimization of Mapbox's traffic and telemetry products. She works with massive amounts of real-time streaming data, writing algorithms to analyze the information, and ensure that their products are up and working at all times, providing users with accurate information. She prepares models to extract traffic information from GPS resources to predict traffic state and select optimal routes for directions requests. Oindrila collaborates closely with telemetry engineers and scientists in order to maintain and develop traffic and navigation services. She performs statistical and GIS analysis of traffic and navigation data and responds to infrastructure alarms and outages, improving operational excellence of traffic products. Oindrila also writes detailed communications regarding investigating outages and recommends courses of action and model improvements. She prepares reports aggregating data across multiple projects for visual comparison and evaluation of model improvements. Prior to her current role, Oindrila was a data analyst at Mapbox, where she analyzed OpenStreetMap data, processed key data sets to improve Mapbox's navigation and search products worldwide, and built tools for the same. She was responsible for developing the OpenStreetMap Junction Detector algorithm, which is a major component of Navigation Map - a tool used for adding traffic signs to OpenStreetMap. Oindrila also developed and stream-lined Mapbox's Navigation API failure review process and built and optimized the Directions QA tools. She reviewed and analyzed geocoding data and wrote geocoder-test services to build tools to automate the entire QA process. She created and optimized various workflows to help the team with daily projects and led out various projects such as OpenAddresses Coverage and Quality review, Missing Streets and Road Alignments, Turn Restrictions mapping, and detection assessment. Oindrila holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Information Technology from Heritage Institute of Technology. Her tech stack includes Software Engineering, QA, Infra, Test, Search, and Mobile.
