Olivia Adams is a seasoned full-stack software developer and engineering manager with over 7 years of relevant experience. She currently works as a Principal Software Engineer at athenahealth, where she is responsible for creating architectures, soliciting feedback from architects, and gathering feedback from team members. She is also the "security champion" for the division. Olivia is a vocal advocate of Agile methodologies and has excellent communication skills and an upbeat personality that encourage others to rally around great ideas and bring them to fruition. Her passion for doing and enabling others to do purposeful work has earned her the title of Bostonian of the Year 2021. Before her current role, Olivia was an Engineering Manager at athenahealth, where she managed seven direct reports ranging from Associate to Principal Developer. She was also a Scrum master of one full-stack team and an active participant in project planning and goal-setting at the zone and product level. Prior to that, she was a Lead Member of Technical Staff at athenahealth, where she was a Scrum master of one full-stack team and a developer of a new full-stack project built with new technologies but still integrated in the existing monolithic architecture. Olivia holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from Cornell University. She is proficient in a variety of technologies, including AWS, Javascript, NodeJS, Terraform, Typescript, and MySQL.
