Om P. is a highly experienced Data Engineer with over 14 years of relevant experience in the industry. He is currently working at Google as a Data Engineer, where he has been serving as a lead technical resource on professional services engagements with enterprise customers to increase Google Cloud adoption for data workloads. Om has implemented an Internet of Things (IoT) streaming ML pipeline using serverless services for a life sciences company to conduct real-time monitoring of drug development processes with under 2 second round-trip latency. He has also migrated a security company’s big data workload from on-premise Hadoop to Google Cloud resulting in a 38% reduction in overall runtime after optimization. Om has developed and refined assets for migrating legacy data warehouse stacks to Google Cloud Platform native solutions. Prior to joining Google, Om worked at Amazon as a Data Engineer where he refactored traditional SQL transform jobs for advertising data that were outgrowing capacity of existing data warehouse to Apache Spark using the Scala API. He optimized Amazon Redshift SQL queries for business users to keep execution times within SLAs for critical reports. Om also developed automated email notifications for operations management processes using Python which was adopted by 4 other business units across Amazon affecting thousands of employees. He partnered with program managers to design and develop metrics to drive progress for measurable talent management goals. Om holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematical Decision Sciences from the University of North Carolina.
