Omkar Patil is a highly skilled Data Scientist with over 5 years of relevant experience in the field. Currently working as a Software Engineer - Core Data at Databook, Omkar has previously worked at Primer.ai as a Data Scientist 2 and as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Omkar completed his Master's in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz in August 2021, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. During his time at UCSC, Omkar worked with Prof. Marilyn Walker on improving open-domain conversational agents using controlled response generation, funded as a part of Amazon Alexa Prize Socialbot Grand Challenge 4. Omkar's technical expertise includes NLP, AI, backend infrastructure, Python, SQL, Java, and Unix, and he has a strong foundation in Algorithms and Data Structures. He has also completed a Deep Learning Foundations Nanodegree from Udacity. Omkar's current role at Databook involves building NLP models and related backend infrastructure for Primer’s Command and Analyze products.
