Orin Datta is a Data Engineering Manager with over 10 years of relevant experience in the field of data sciences, big data, and solution engineering. He is currently working as a Staff Data Engineer - SAS Data Platform & Solution Engineering at Visa, where he is responsible for architecting, scaling, and creating optimized data engineering solutions. Orin has proven industry experience in project delivery, tech engineering solutions, team building and mentoring, vendor management, data governance, and data management and retention policies. Orin is passionate about customer success and loves to dig into customer issues, identify the chaos, filter the noise, and fix it. He has hands-on experience in big data, Python, SAS, Unix, and GCP cloud solutions. Currently, he is getting trained in Kubernetes while pursuing an MS in Data Science and Engineering. Orin has worked with Visa in the past and has been responsible for providing end-to-end solutions in BI, analytics, and DM by providing the development, administration, and infrastructure needs in SAS. He has also strategized multiple platform hardening/stability measures and data cleanup and retention policies across Visa. Orin has worked with other companies in the past, including Cognizant and RS Software. Orin holds a Master of Technology degree in Data Science and Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology. He has also completed a Nanodegree in Data Analyst from Udacity. Orin's tech stack includes data engineering, big data, senior software engineering, Hadoop, Python, Kubernetes, data scientist, GCP, infra, Apache Hive, software engineering, Spark, SQL, HDFS, CI/CD, ML, MySQL, and Kafka.
