Oswaldo Alvarez is a seasoned tech executive, experienced CTO, and entrepreneur with over 13 years of experience in the software development industry. He has worked with small and medium startups to large corporations, managing large budgets and leading large engineering teams focused on delivering quality software pieces. Currently, he is the Head of Engineering, Digital Capabilities at Scotiabank, where he is creating digital experiences that facilitate the lives of customers and optimize the software development operation. Oswaldo has a strong educational background, having completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2008. He also completed a course in Startups from Stanford University in 2013, titled "Getting from an Early Idea to a Real Business." With his expertise in software engineering, Oswaldo has worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer. He is the author of the book "Leadership: Team Management in Technology 2021" (Spanish), which is available on Udemy with over 22,000 students enrolled and a rating of 4.6. He is also the host of the podcast CoffeePower, which focuses on leadership, technology, and entrepreneurship. Oswaldo has worked with Scotiabank for several years, holding various positions such as Global Engineering Director, Digital Banking, and Head of Engineering, Digital Banking Colombia. As the Head of Engineering, Digital Capabilities at Scotiabank, he leads multiple Agile software development teams with an Inner Source and co-creation mindset, constantly seeking to avoid bottlenecks, accelerate teams in all countries, and minimize project costs.
