Pablo Hoffman is a seasoned entrepreneur and technology expert with over 13 years of experience in open source development and startups. He is currently a Mentor at Endeavor Uruguay, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with aspiring entrepreneurs. Pablo began his career in 2000 as a system administrator and software engineer at Ikatu, a company specializing in high-end audiovisual solutions. Over time, he rose to the position of CIO before leaving in 2007 to launch his first startup, Insophia. Insophia was the first Uruguayan company to work exclusively with Python, a language that has since become popular in Uruguay due to the OLPC project. Initially, Insophia was a general-purpose software development company with clients in Europe and the US. However, in response to the popularity of Scrapy, a web crawling framework that Pablo had created and open-sourced while working on Insophia, the company shifted its focus to web crawling. Scrapy is now the de-facto web crawling framework for Python. In 2010, Pablo founded Scrapinghub, a product company dedicated exclusively to web crawling solutions, including professional services and scalable platforms to run web crawlers. Under Pablo's leadership, Scrapinghub has grown from a 3-man company to a staff of 70. Pablo's technical expertise lies in web development, Python, and software engineering. He has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidad ORT Uruguay and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidad de la República. With 14.61 years of relevant experience, Pablo is a highly respected figure in the tech community.
