Panagiotis Stanitsas is a highly skilled machine learning engineer with a passion for applying his expertise to drug discovery. He is currently employed at insitro, where he is responsible for researching and developing machine learning schemes that aid in uncovering biological insights from microscopy data. With over 4 years of relevant experience, Panagiotis has demonstrated a strong track record of success in the field. Prior to joining insitro, Panagiotis worked at 3m as a Senior Data Scientist, where he led cross-functional efforts targeting the research and development of products at the intersection of material science and computer vision. These efforts served as the basis for 7 patent filings. He also interfaced with customers and partners from government agencies and technology companies, building and delivering technology demonstrations. Panagiotis developed and deployed a deep learning-based system for optical character recognition in real-world conditions. Before 3m, Panagiotis worked as a Software Engineering Intern at vital images, inc., where he developed inference schemes for tumor segmentation from Magnetic Resonance images using deep learning. Panagiotis has an impressive educational background, having earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota in 2018. He also holds a Master's degree in Transportation engineering (Minor: Industrial and systems engineering) from the same institution, as well as a Master's degree in Transportation and Project management from the University of Patras. He earned a Ptichion (5-year engineering degree) in Civil Engineering from the University of Patras.
