Pankaj Tripathi is a highly experienced Senior Technical Architect at Mavenir with over 20 years of relevant experience in the tech industry. He is currently working on UPF development in a cloud-native environment with VPP data path and routing functions in UPF by integrating FRR using VPP data path. Pankaj is highly skilled in various technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Kubernetes CNI plugins like Calico, Cilium, and Multus, as well as data path and virtualization technologies such as eBPF, SRIOV, NFV, VPP, and DPDK. He has hands-on experience in FRR about OSPF, LDP, BGP, L3 VPN, VLAN, VRF, and MPLS, and has integrated the FRR stack with other custom applications and gateway (UPF). He is also proficient in programming languages such as C, modern C++ (11/17), Go, Rust, and Python. Pankaj has worked with various companies in the past, including Lucent Technologies India (Bell Labs), Qualcomm India, Starent Networks India, and Cisco. At Cisco, he worked on the development of EVDO/Rev-A in 3G, eHRPD/HSGW & PMIP-PGW technology for tier-1 customers, and managed a team of 8-10 people with ownership of design, development, and delivery of CDMA/eHRPD/PMIP-PGW products to customers. He also worked as an architect for the internal call processing Tools team to modernize the Tools portfolio and worked on platform side virtualization (KVM) and SRIOV. At Mavenir, Pankaj has worked on IPM (IP address management module) for 4G SAEGW and UPF data path with policy framework as per 3GPP-release 16. He has also worked on BGP, L3 VPN, MPLS, MP-BGP protocol, and added support for all of them in UPF. He has hands-on experience with various CNI plugins like Calico, Celium, and Multus for cloud-native UPF POD deployment. Pankaj holds an Engineer’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Warangal. He is a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, Docker, Azure, Integration, Mobile, Python, Golang, and Software Engineering.
