Patrick Brett is a software engineer with a passion for designing, building, and tinkering with tech projects. With a Software Engineering and Finance double degree from Monash University, Patrick has spent the past 3-4 years working as a software engineer for companies such as ANZ Bank, Bluedot, Brieft, and currently, Mindset Health. Patrick has become hugely passionate about software, the problems it can solve, and the opportunities it creates. His philosophy is that "full-stack" engineering extends all the way from low-level assembly code up to the customer. Whether he is experimenting with compilers and query engines or conducting user interviews, the same pursuit applies: technical excellence in service of customer needs. Building things right matters a lot, but only after you've made sure you're building the right things. Patrick has worked in various capacities with Node, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, AWS, Java, Go, Vue, C++, Swift, Bash, Python, Linux, Haskell, and more CI/CD services than he can count. He has also participated in workshops on Convolutional Neural Networks, ResNets, and HPC, and co-hosted a workshop on Generative Adversarial Networks, helping students to build an AI that generates artificial pictures of human faces. Currently working at Mindset Health, Patrick is helping thousands (soon millions) of people to improve their health with their mind. He is currently working on payments infrastructure and onboarding flows. Patrick has also worked as an Engineer for the Deep Learning Team at Monash University, where his team focused on improving the world with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC). Patrick has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Software, Honours) and Commerce (Finance) from Monash University and completed his secondary education at McKinnon Secondary College. He has a wide range of technical skills, including software engineering, AWS, Deep Learning, AI, CI/CD, infra, Javascript, Typescript, Adversarial Networks, Python, Java, Swift, Research Scientist, Neural Networks, Frontend, Data Engineering, NLP, ML, and Integration. With 2.61 years of relevant experience, Patrick is a highly skilled software engineer with a passion for building things that matter.
