Peter Lane is an experienced Lead Software Engineer at American Medical Association with over 13 years of relevant experience. He is a skilled software developer and experimental research scientist with excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Peter has a particular interest in developing software for interacting with and controlling physical data and hardware systems such as for sensor data acquisition and analysis, and micro-controller-based devices. In his current role at American Medical Association, Peter is responsible for architecting and building data platform infrastructure in AWS via Terraform and on the enterprise Kubernetes cluster. He also leads the building of ETLs and data APIs in Python and provides software engineering guidance to more junior engineers and data scientists. Peter has built and maintains the code repository and CI/CD pipeline. Prior to working at American Medical Association, Peter worked as a Sr Backend Engineer at Virgil Holdings Inc. where he designed, built, updated, and tested microservice web APIs deployed to AWS Fargate and using S3, SNS, SQS, Parameter Store, DynamoDB, RDS, and CodePipeline. He also built crucial ETL pipelines between the web platform and Salesforce using Airflow and custom cloud services. Peter also worked at Bank of America as an Application Programmer where he developed and improved applications in Python, added features to data portal web applications in ReactJS, and analyzed and fixed multi-service application issues across teams. Peter has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science. He also has a Physics degree from the University of Chicago and attended the University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus. Peter is skilled in various tech stacks, including AWS, Python, Kubernetes, and Apache Airflow. When not working, he enjoys hitting the climbing gym, going hiking, or just hanging out with his family for an episode of Nova.
