Peter Liao is a highly experienced Senior Director of Software at SiFive with over 10 years of experience managing high-performance and efficient engineering teams across multiple fields. He has led a team of 20+ engineers across teams, including system verification, system software, performance analysis and optimization, system modeling, VLSI design verification/engineering, and board/hardware design. With over 5 years of experience leading teams on performance analysis and optimization for advanced processor micro-architecture (in-order to superscalar out-of-order) and system, Peter has a vast understanding of system software development (Linux and WinCE) and CPU/system verification for Marvell CPUs (ARM v5/v6/v7/v7mp/v8mp). He has also spent 4+ years leading teams on CPU/system modeling (SystemC/GEM5/TLM for CPU and memory controller) and has hands-on experience on micro-controller based embedded system hardware and software development, especially on 8051. Peter has also spent 2+ years on USB 2.0 OTG host stack development and IP Verification and 4+ years on Peripheral IP verification experience. Currently, he leads a team at SiFive that focuses on system performance analysis and optimization for Marvell Wireless Solution, system software development for high-end application processor in Wireless SoC group, board support package (boot loader, Linux kernel and drivers, basic root file system), and system problem-solving and debugging. Prior to joining SiFive, Peter served as Senior Director at Bitmain/iclink, where he managed a team of 17+ engineers across three teams, system verification, CPU design and verification, and performance analysis and optimization co-working with multiple sites (US/Israel/China). He has also worked at Marvell Semiconductor as Senior SAO Engineering Manager of Wireless Group, where he managed a team of 10+ engineers co-working with multiple sites (US/Israel/China) on system verification for Marvell ARM based CPU from v5 to v7 and OS/Driver Development for various Marvell SoC including Linux and WinCE. Peter holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University and Bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences. With 19.71 years of relevant experience as a software engineer and senior software engineer, Peter has a proven track record of leading high-performance teams and delivering results.
