Peter Marshall is a seasoned technologist, strategist, and analyst with over 24 years of relevant experience in the industry. He is a catalyst for new approaches, ideas, and directions in all things data and is passionate about enabling and advocating for others. Peter is a mentor and coach who leverages his expertise to guide and support his team members and peers. Currently, Peter serves as the Director of Developer Relations at imply, where he is responsible for scaling out the Developer Relations function through rapid company and community growth. He defines and recruits for rules, defines processes, and refines team culture. Peter is also responsible for full strategy definition, incorporating idea management, delegation and escalation of work, and KPIs, OKRs, and health metrics for adoption-related content. Peter's expertise in chairing weekly clinics across APAC, EMEA, SNAM for both community and internal developers, participating in customer workshops and meetings, making and prioritizing repo contributions and product development by active monitoring of 2,000+ community interactions (Github Issues / Slack / Discourse / StackOverflow / Google Groups / Reddit) has earned him recognition in the industry. He is also skilled in creating multi-award-winning in-person, virtual, and hybrid content on practical and conceptual aspects of Apache Druid, on best practices, and on architectural concerns. Peter has a strong track record of building out ways-of-working between departments, including lead generation, customer success, and pre-sales engineering. He has defined the developer journey: stakeholders, scenarios, personas, journeys, and the concluding service blueprint, establishing responsibilities, levels of authority, areas of expertise, and duties of team members. Peter has worked with several companies in the past, including profisee and ab agri, where he served as a Solution Engineer and Digital & Data Architect, respectively. He has a BA (Hons) degree in Theology and Computer Studies from the University of Birmingham and a BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies from Boston College, Lincolnshire. Peter's technical skills include designer, SQL, Integration, and Senior Software Engineer. Peter is known for his excellent slides, and he is a lover of rottweilers, good food, and red wine.
