Piyush Gupta is a technologist and researcher with over 18 years of experience in various technical domains, including AI/ML, eCommerce, Virtual Systems, Cloud Computing, RPA, and Software Architecture. He is currently serving as the Vice President and Sr. Distinguished Engineer, Research & Innovation at UnitedHealth Group, where he leads the effort in researching emerging technologies and evangelizes the organization to adopt them. Piyush is a seasoned R&D fellow, and his professional journey has coursed through research departments of various organizations he has been a part of. He has built and managed high-performance research teams with extremely talented technologists. At UnitedHealth Group, he is leading the Digital Ops - Technology program across the organization in India and also managing the patents program for the India organization. Prior to his current role, Piyush worked at WalmartLabs as a Lead Engineering Architect @Platform, where he was part of the team implementing a complete e-commerce platform from scratch for Walmart. He was involved in various efforts, including the implementation of CACHEaaS designed around ehCache and Couchbase, an end-to-end solution for IaaS and PaaS provisioning, and researching the viability of NoSQL based DBs like Cassandra, MongoDB, Hbase, etc. Before WalmartLabs, Piyush worked at Mindtree as a Senior Technical Architect, where he played the role of a technical architect for the team working on various technologies in Java/Web 2.0/Spring space. Piyush holds a Master's degree in Computer Applications from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), a Leadership Excellence & Advancement Program from Indian School of Business (ISB), and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications from IGNOU and a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from Delhi University.
