Piyush Vijay is a highly skilled and experienced software engineer currently working at Google. With over 10 years of relevant experience, he has a proven track record of success in the field. Piyush has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Prior to his current role at Google, Piyush worked as a Software Engineer at Apple, where he was an integral part of the team that built cloud platforms and services for internal teams supporting billions of active devices. He was also a founding member of the team tasked with providing Apache Kafka as a service within Apple. Before Apple, Piyush worked as a Rocket Scientist at Rocket Fuel, where he owned the development and deployment and served as an in-house expert for open-source technologies related to real-time distributed computing like Storm, Kafka, ZooKeeper, and RF-Scribe. He was responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable ETL jobs using the Hadoop ecosystem (Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, Oozie). Piyush has a diverse tech stack that includes Software Engineering, Kafka, testing, Research Scientist, Hadoop, MapReduce, ETL, Integration, infra, and Apache Hive. He has also mentored interns and new team members who became some of the most productive members of the team. Piyush has helped define culture and best practices for the team around various processes like code reviews, on-call, and productivity as the team grew from 3 to 14 members.
