Polong Lin is a Staff Developer Advocate for Data Science and Machine Learning at Google, where he helps data scientists make the most out of Google Cloud. He is currently leading the Developer Advocate team for BigQuery ML and is responsible for helping data scientists and data engineers leverage Google Cloud's capabilities. His expertise includes BigQuery, Kaggle, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Compute Engine, Cloud AI Platform, and Firestore. Prior to joining Google, Polong worked at IBM as a Data Scientist and Lead Data Science Advocate. He was responsible for data science consulting, public speaking, and leadership. He taught over 275K people through his online courses in data science and was a co-founder and instructor of IBM Data Science Bootcamp with blockchain-verified certificates. He also organized Canada's largest data science meetup group with 10K+ members. He was responsible for data mining, machine learning, dashboards, and A/B testing for IBM products with 1M+ users and 20M+ annual pageviews. He also established analytics pipelines to measure and track growth and performance for 1M+ users and created dashboards for product teams to visualize data. Polong has a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology from the University of Tsukuba and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto.
