Pooya Davoodi is a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer, currently working on the AIML team at Apple. With over 16 years of relevant experience, he has a strong background in designing algorithms, optimizing software, programming, and developing software products. Prior to his current role, Pooya worked as a Senior Software Engineer at NVIDIA, where he optimized deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe2, and Caffe for CUDA and GPU architectures. He also developed DL benchmarks, profiled training or inference in various scenarios, and implemented new algorithms using optimized libraries such as TensorRT and CUDNN. Before joining NVIDIA, Pooya spent six years researching memory-efficient data structures, including succinct data structures, encoding algorithms, and range queries. He has also taught algorithms, data structures, and foundations of computer science at various universities and colleges, including New York University (NYU), where he taught algorithms as an online course. In his current role at Apple, Pooya is responsible for the design and development of the ML inference stack on Apple hardware. He has also worked on accelerating TensorFlow on Mac computers in his previous role. Pooya holds a PhD in Computer Science from Aarhus University, as well as an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Tehran. His technical skills include ML, Deep Learning, TensorFlow, Research Scientist, and Software Engineer.
