Pradeep Kalra is a highly skilled software engineer with over 5 years of relevant experience in designing highly scalable services. He is currently working as a Software Engineer lll at Google, where he is a part of the Touchless planning platform team, specifically on Machine Planning. Prior to this, Pradeep worked as an SDE 2 at Dunzo, where he was a part of the Catalog Backend Team. Pradeep has excellent experience in both low-level and high-level designing of microservices that can serve high throughput with high availability and can scale rapidly with growing users. He has implemented transactions using sessions to obtain consistency for critical operations in SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) collection of Mongo Database and worked on batching bulk queries and optimizing the mass insertions in Redis Cache using pipelines. He has also improved the latencies of Redis cache by 8 times and contributed to best command and architectural practices to be used across the services in the organization for Redis cache. Pradeep has worked on revamping the whole catalog service to improve the efficiency of systems and implemented Third-Party Discounts feature which includes the strike-off amount, text including the percent and flat off, and invoice breakup change. He has also worked on implementing security features across the services including SSL and secret managers. Pradeep's past experience also includes working as an Algorithm Developer (Founding dev) at DH, where he developed high frequency trading algorithms to trade in commodities and developed the alert service for the internal team to get real-time alerts of different commodity prices. He used Redis cache to power the alerts with low latencies of 50-100 ms and worked on transferring the commodities data from broker's server to different internal services using Redis queue through channels. Pradeep holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar. He is proficient in technologies and frameworks such as Redis, MongoDB, Microservices, New Relic, NodeJS, Kubernetes, Javascript, and GCP.
