Prakash Shanbhag is a seasoned engineering professional with over 13 years of experience in the industry. He is currently working at Google as part of the persistence disk team, responsible for managing every bit stored by every Google Compute Engine in the Google cloud. Prakash has a diverse background, having worked with companies such as Hotstar and Grab in the past. At Hotstar, he served as the Engineering Manager and played a key role in several business impact projects, including subscription upgrades, multiple payment gateway integrations, and the promotion engine to boost subscription growth. He was also responsible for architecting and delivering the subscription platform that manages multi-million subscriptions. Prior to Hotstar, Prakash worked at Gameskraft as the Director of Engineering, where he mentored, hired, and scaled engineering teams that drove core aspects of the RummyCulture product. He also managed the DevOps team to drive key infra initiatives like AWS cost optimization, security, tool automation, and CI/CD pipelines. Prakash is a well-rounded professional with expertise in AWS, mobile, senior software engineering, DevOps, infra, and microservices. He has contributed to the architecture of the system and established best engineering practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools. Prakash holds a Master's degree in Telecommunication from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is always eager to learn and is currently focused on expanding his knowledge at Google.
