Prasad Balakrishnan is an enterprising R&D leader with over 25 years of rich and extensive experience in the field of high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and as-a-service (aaS) solutions. Currently serving as the R&D Manager for Cray HPC and AI at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Prasad has transitioned into this role when Cray got acquired by HPE in 2019. With a strong analytical bent of mind, he has been instrumental in driving innovation and leading teams to develop cutting-edge solutions for HPC and AI customers. In his previous role as Head of Research and Development for Cray India, Prasad led the development of supercomputers and solutions for storage and analytics. Prior to that, he served as the Seagate HPC R&D and Strategic Biz Dev, where he was responsible for delivering cutting-edge performance acceleration solutions for Seagate HPC systems. He also headed biz dev for Seagate HPC in India and APAC, making custom solutions for enterprise customers and focusing on DesignWin opportunities. Prasad holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Bharathiyar University, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He has a strong tech stack that includes AI, research scientist, and senior software engineer.
