Prashast Bindal is a highly skilled Software Engineer at Amazon with a strong background in distributed systems, system design, deep learning, and computer vision. Prior to joining Amazon, Prashast worked at The Johns Hopkins University as a Deep Learning Researcher in the Vision Lab. During his time there, he was involved in several research projects, including zero-shot learning for image classification and activity detection from surveillance videos. Prashast built a dockerized multi-GPU app to detect human activities in surveillance videos, which involved tracking people and processing videos with deep networks like Faster-RCNN and I3D models. He achieved real-time video processing and recorded an area under DET curve of 0.64. Before that, Prashast worked as a Deep Learning Researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where he researched and developed generative models for 3D human pose estimation and view-invariant 3D human pose estimation with metric learning. His work was published in ICCV’19 and achieved near state-of-the-art results on Human3.6M and HumanEva datasets. Prashast holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.
