Prateek Garg is an experienced Engineering Manager at Uber, where he leads the development of Uber Bus, a new line of business for the company. With over 10 years of experience as an Android Engineer, Prateek has led teams to build multiple apps in different domains such as Transportations, Maps, and Music. In his current role as a Software Engineering Manager, Prateek is part of the Rider Leadership group in India, driving the engineering charter for Uber Bus product. His goal is to create Uber Bus product as a new line of business for Uber, making Uber affordable for the next set of users and solving daily commute needs. He is focused on building the best-in-class experience for riders with a focus on availability, reliability, and convenience. Prior to his current role, Prateek worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Uber, where he led the development of Uber Lite Android App from scratch, which is currently live in 30+ countries. He was responsible for the design, architecture, and bootstrapping of the app and worked with a team of 8 mobile engineers to develop new features and expand the app in new countries. He developed processes, guidelines, and constraints to keep the app light and performant over time. Prateek invested in new technologies like server-driven UI, proguard, redex, etc to allow scaling and building more without impacting the size and performance of the app. Prateek also worked as a Software Engineer in Growth Engineering (Android) at Uber, where his mission was to create products to supercharge the growth of Uber in developing countries like India, China, and Latam. He worked on improving the pickup experience between driver and rider via pickup notes and messaging and developed support for Upfront Pricing on Android across the world. Prateek holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, and completed his XII from Kendriya Vidyalaya. His tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer, Android, Software Engineer, Mobile, and UI.
