Prateek Shah is a highly experienced Senior Software Development Manager at Amazon, with a career spanning over 18 years. He is currently leading the Alexa Spoken Word organization, which aims to deliver a world-class Podcast experience, Storytime for kids, and an engaging Books experience on Alexa-enabled devices. Prateek is responsible for building and managing a team of Software Development Engineers, Software Development Managers, and Applied Scientists to achieve these goals. Prior to his current role, Prateek was the Global head for Amazon Video Content Compliance Automation and Moderation platform and Video Understanding infrastructure. His team's charter was to build services to inspect video content and provide a comprehensive video understanding service for classification and moderation. Prateek was responsible for hiring, developing, and managing seasoned engineers and managers across three core functional areas to launch a global self-publishing video platform, Amazon Video Direct. He led the teams for technical design, implementation, integration, and influencing product roadmap across Video Partner Onboarding experience, Partner Payment Experience, and Video Content Risk Automation. Prateek holds a Masters's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Texas and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Jadavpur University. He also completed his high school education from South Point High School. Prateek's technical expertise includes Software Engineering, QA, Product Management, Computer Vision, SDET, ML, Research Science, Infra, Integration, and Web.
