Pravakar Roy is an accomplished Applied Scientist at Microsoft AI and Research with a strong background in computer vision and agricultural robotics. He completed his Ph.D. at RSN Lab, University of Minnesota, where he focused on developing solutions for various computer vision problems such as object detection, counting, and tracking, structure from motion (SfM), merging point clouds, and active perception. His work has been instrumental in the development of several techniques that are now being commercialized by Farm Vision Technologies. Pravakar's research interests also include semantics-aware image to image translation using generative adversarial networks. He spent the last year of his Ph.D. focused on this area, and his work has contributed significantly to the development of new techniques in this field. Before joining Microsoft, Pravakar served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota, where he taught courses on Algorithms and Data Structures and Computer Vision. He was responsible for designing homework assignments, advising student projects, and leading recitations. Pravakar holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. His technical skills include research scientist, computer vision, object detection, AI, adversarial networks, and object detection. He has relevant experience of 3.95 years in the field.
