Praveen Tammana is a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft, with over 20 years of experience in building small to internet-scale products. He has spent the last 10+ years designing, implementing, and building distributed systems and Google-scale, cloud-based, enterprise-class products. Praveen has a solid background in building large-scale distributed systems, designing and delivering multiple large-scale applications on distributed infrastructure, and architecting highly available and scalable systems. Praveen has excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills, and he has successfully managed multiple projects in parallel. He has taken multiple projects from conception through design and execution to delivery, and he is experienced in highly consistent distributed file systems and lock services. Praveen has built multiple products that are extensively used on Google scale. Before joining Microsoft, Praveen worked at Google as a SWE, Engineering Manager, where he worked on numerous projects and products in areas of Systems Infrastructure and Enterprise Engineering. He was responsible for building key parts of Google's Cloud Identity offering, including Automated User Provisioning, Simplified Mobile Device Management, GCDS, and GSPS. Praveen also worked on several products to enhance Google's primary Enterprise offering, GSuite, including Data Migration Service, Email Continuity, and a variety of tools to migrate/sync data to and interoperate with GSuite. Prior to Google, Praveen worked at Videojet Technologies as a Principal Software Engineer, where he designed and implemented graphic frontends for multiple printers on Windows NT, Windows CE, Linux, and RTOS platforms. He also developed a windowing system that formed the basis for GUI on Nucleus RTOS and designed and developed a networked printing system that brought together printers located on multiple product lines into a single cohesive system. Praveen holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. He is a highly skilled software engineer with expertise in infra, mobile, iOS, and frontend development, and he has nearly 30 years of relevant experience.
