About
Praveen Venkatesh is a highly motivated graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute, currently pursuing a master's degree in Robotic Systems Development. With a keen interest in building and commercializing robotic systems to solve real-world problems, he is passionate about robotic perception and planning. Praveen is currently exploring the development of robots that can assist humans. Praveen is a problem solver who loves using his skills to address issues faced in the community. He is skilled in mobile development and has deployed several apps to production, which have been used by over 1500 members of the IIT Gandhinagar community. He is also interested in spreading knowledge using intuitive and easy-to-understand methods to visualize and explore concepts. Praveen's past experiences include working as a MITACS Globalink Research Intern at Western University, where he developed a perception stack for an agricultural robot. He also developed a novel perception pipeline for single view-based vegetable plant modeling using deep learning and an enhanced variant of active contours. As the Founder of InsIIT, he led a team of six to refresh the Students' App at IIT GN under Students' Summer Online Projects (SSOP) Internship 2020 (Technical Council IIT Gandhinagar). Praveen designed the UI and developed features such as personal scheduling, feedback systems, contacts, and room/machine bookings for sensitive equipment. Praveen's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from IIT Gandhinagar and a Master's degree in Robotic Systems Development from Carnegie Mellon University, which he is set to complete in 2024. Praveen's tech stack includes NLP, mobile development, research scientist, deep learning, and UI. With 0.43 years of relevant experience, Praveen is a highly skilled and motivated individual who is passionate about using his skills to solve real-world problems.
