Rafael Belchior is a highly skilled and motivated PhD student, incoming visiting researcher at MIT, and blockchain engineer with a passion for exploring the intersection between blockchain, interoperability, and security. With nearly four years of relevant experience, Rafael is experienced with Hyperledger Cactus, Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum, and Polkadot. Currently working as an R&D Engineer at blockdaemon, Rafael has previously worked as an R&D Engineer at quant, where he created a modular, extensible, Substrate Connector supporting Polkadot, Kusama, Rococco, and the dev chain. He also authored the crypto section of the blockchain course "A Beginner’s Guide to Becoming a Blockchain Developer with Overledger", a course with approximately 1500 students. Additionally, Rafael wrote a 40-page academic paper submitted to ACM DLT and built an automated testing process, extensive documentation with emphasis on security and containerization. Rafael has also worked as a Guest Lecturer at Nova IMS Information Management School, where he presented his overview and insights on the current state of blockchain interoperability and gave feedback on student projects. Furthermore, Rafael has a strong educational background, having completed a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Blockchain at Instituto Superior Técnico, where he is currently studying. He also holds a Master's degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the same institution.
