Rahul Kumar is a Software Engineer at General Electric Healthcare, with a passion for Machine Learning, Data Analysis, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. He completed his Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. Rahul has experience leading a development team in a start-up, building an automated supply chain management system using IoT and Data Analysis. He also has significant exposure to research work in the fields of machine learning applications in cybersecurity systems like Network Intrusion Detection System and Malware Detection System. Rahul enjoys innovating solutions to challenging problems that benefit both business and society. At General Electric, Rahul is working towards enhancing cloud connectivity and edge deployment of the platform. He has worked on integrating open source solutions like SPIFFE/SPIRE for universal identity and zero trust, ISTIO service mesh for monitoring/encrypted communications/gateway control, and Falco for cloud-native runtime security in the existing platform. He has also enabled decentralized deployment in the cloud and data center with proper visibility. In addition to his work at General Electric, Rahul has previously served as an Undergraduate Representative at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, where he was responsible for framing the work plan and recommending rules for the executive and academic council of the Institute. He has also completed a summer internship at General Electric, where he worked with the platform team and learned about agile software development practices, including capacity planning, weekly sprint planning, and daily stand-ups. He completed two sprint tasks related to the development of secure REST APIs on Spring Boot Framework using OAuth technology, following the practices of Test-Driven Developments (TDDs) and Behavioral Driven Development (BDDs).
