Rahul Yadav is a highly experienced software engineer with over 14 years of relevant experience. Currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Oracle, he is leading the development of libresource, a library that provides system resource information related to memory, networking, CPU, etc. He conceptualized the idea by interacting with Oracle DB, Oracle Cloud teams, and groups working on observability and monitoring tools. He created an initial draft and discussed it with the upstream community at LPC (Linux Plumbers Conference) 2017. He designed and led the development of the infrastructure and delivered the initial version for use by applications. He presented the work in LPC 2018 and discussed further work related to virtualization (cgroup, container aware) of resources and process-specific resource information. In addition, Rahul is also leading the design and development of pthread rwlock enhancement to make it dynamic and decide a reader or writer bias based on workload and contention on the lock. His past experience includes working as a Senior Software Development Engineer (Linux) and Senior Software Development Engineer (Solaris) at Oracle. During his tenure, he investigated Linux kernel synchronization objects and formulated strategies to make them scalable. He also conceptualized and developed a dynamic delayed sleep mechanism in Linux reader-writer semaphore to make it adaptive according to usage. He designed and developed aio-dNFS for Oracle DB and integrated Solaris etrace (end-to-end tracing) in Oracle DB, which enabled Oracle DB to analyze network-related statistics and solve issues. Rahul holds a Master of Science degree in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University. He is skilled in Software Engineering and Infra and has a proven track record of collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality results.
