Raj Shekhar is a highly experienced Cloud Platform Engineer with over 11 years of experience in DevOps, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, AWS, Azure, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Vault, Golang, Java, and Python. He has a strong technical background in the Kubernetes ecosystem, including development and operations, microservices, system architecture, infrastructure automation, orchestration, and application deployment. Currently, Raj is working as a Cloud Platform Engineer at Volvo Cars, where he is responsible for architecting an enterprise-level Kubernetes platform using IaC and GitOps practices. He provides single-click and repeatable deployment of the complete platform in a matter of minutes. The platform includes in-house developed controllers and operators to support automation and provide a better developer experience. The platform is developed on the API-first and self-service model to allow developers to perform day-to-day tasks without any manual interventions while enforcing certain policies on the platform to safeguard it from exploits, whether internal or external. Prior to his current role, Raj worked as a Lead Engineer at Siri AB, where he worked on the development of a multi-cloud platform based on Kubernetes. He was responsible for developing terraform templates, modules, and ansible playbooks, researching, analyzing, selecting, implementing, and deploying open-source components for capabilities such as certificate management, central logging, monitoring, CI/CD, discovery, security, policies, identity and management, etc., for the Kubernetes platform. Raj has also worked as an Associate Technical Lead (DevOps) at To The New, where he developed complete infrastructure from scratch for two parallel tracks, viz. Application Platform using microservices (Java spring boot and ReactJS) being deployed on EKS using several other AWS services and a Big Data platform using Oracle as a source system, Nifi and AWS Lambdas for extraction and transformation of data and finally dumping that to the RedShift. He was responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure along with the automated pipelines for CI/CD to exclude the manual intervention at all. Raj holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science from Apex Institute of Engineering and Technology and a Senior Secondary degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from CBSE Board.
