Rajat Chowdhary is an Engineering Manager at Atlassian with over 11 years of relevant experience in software engineering and management roles. Currently, he leads all the frontend engineering and mobile efforts in the Payments BU at Razorpay, managing three teams of engineers working on merchant engagement and retention, helping merchants accept payments, and merchant experience. The teams comprise backend, frontend, and native mobile engineers, and the tech stack used includes Golang, PHP, Reactjs, and Svelte. Rajat has significant experience in managing horizontal teams and coming up with the right set of processes depending on the organization dynamics and phase. He has previously worked in software engineering/manager roles at Directi and other 0-1 startups, where he was mostly a full stack engineer. At Directi, Rajat built a high performing, delivery-focused engineering team from the ground up with four developers. He also architected reusable functional components in React and designed the data and event flow in Redux. Rajat drove many design decisions on the backend, which consists of horizontally scalable microservices. He implemented best practices like unit testing, functional testing, CI/CD, monitoring/alerting, and pull request reviews early on, which helped in quicker and shorter iterative dev cycles where they shipped high-quality bug-free features at the end of every sprint. Rajat identified blockers for the team and resolved them proactively to ensure smooth releases. He also worked with all the stakeholders involved like PMs, PgMs, product support, design, and QA to ensure what they built was customer-focused and added great value. Rajat holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, where he studied from 2006 to 2010. He also completed his Intermediate from St. Joseph's College from 2004 to 2006 and his High School from St. Mary's Convent from 1998 to 2004.
