Rajat Vijay is an experienced Engineering Manager with a passion for open source and more than 4 years of experience in working with JavaScript and related technologies. Currently, he works as a Staff Frontend Engineer at Certa, where he has been instrumental in leading several key initiatives that have helped the company reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase productivity. As part of his role at Certa, Rajat has successfully led the development of the reporting module, which has helped the company migrate its customers from Tableau and reduce licensing costs by 80%. He has also led the migration of the legacy codebase to TypeScript, achieving the scope in just 6 months and reducing the number of bugs reported in on-call by almost 50%. Additionally, he introduced and set up the on-call engineering process to avoid distractions for other engineers, increasing the velocity by ~30%. Rajat has also played a key role in introducing and cultivating a practice of TDD, reducing the chances of missing out on test suites for feature/bug-fix and edge cases forgotten during development. He has led the hiring effort, growing the team size from 5 to 9 frontend engineers, and documented and standardized the process for hiring.
