Rajiv Chintala is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at VMware with over 8 years of experience in the field of multimedia and streaming. He is skilled in C, C++, multimedia, image processing, and computer vision. Currently, Rajiv is a part of the Life Cycle Manager team at VMware and is responsible for triaging and fixing non-trivial issues in VUM and VLCM pipelines. He has also designed the telemetry infra on the ESXi host side to transmit necessary data. Prior to joining VMware, Rajiv worked as a Senior Lead Engineer at Samsung where he co-designed and co-implemented the streaming server of Interactive streaming using the Gstreamer framework. He also implemented a custom pipeline using Gstreamer to change the videos in a multi-track video in real-time, modified the decodebin3 module of Gstreamer framework, and fixed memory and latency issues in the pipeline to achieve a smooth transmission of the stream. Rajiv has also worked on several research projects at Samsung, including Action Classification of Clips on Mobile devices, where he trained multiple Neural Network models using Temporal Segment Networks and 3D-Convolutional Neural networks to classify UCF101 dataset. He wrote image processing logic in OpenCV and FFmpeg to extract, scale and process images from videos before passing it to neural network and implemented the classification pipeline, which records videos and passes them to neural networks on mobile devices, to classify them using Android Java and Native C++ framework. Rajiv has also worked on Samsung SmartThings IOT, where he implemented and maintained the Gstreamer media pipeline for SmartThings IOT on Android, wrote the Java interface for av-library and the corresponding JNI layer to use Gstreamer on Android, and implemented various new features such as backchannel pipeline for audio support, support of last frame capture, and fast-start mode for quicker playback. He also maintained the mediastreamer library running on Samsung Galaxy Home speaker. Before Samsung, Rajiv worked as a Senior Programmer at Accenture where he configured retail master data including supply region and distribution channel for Loblaw and converted clients‍ legacy‍ systems to SAP. He also configured SAP systems for clients using SAP Retail Software. Rajiv holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science Engineering from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
