Rakan AlZagha is a Computer Science and Economics major at Trinity College, CT, with a passion for using data analysis to drive education reform. Currently working as a Data Analyst and Project Data Engineer at education analytics, Rakan is responsible for performing data analysis and automation on student data and time-series metrics for Walton, Dell, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Utilizing his expertise in RStudio, Python, and SQL, Rakan provides administrators and educators with statistical tools and resources to pinpoint issues within their curriculum/system in order to focus resources on students in need. Prior to his current role, Rakan worked as a Software Developer at The Project on Shi’ism and Global Affairs at Harvard University, where he developed educational applications and a website for the Muslim population. Working alongside professors and researchers, Rakan played a key role in developing meaningful educational programming for Muslim youth in order to increase religious education accessibility. Rakan's passion for education extends beyond his work experience. As a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Science at Trinity College-Hartford, Rakan assisted the Computer Science department chair in leading virtual coding labs for 45 students, holding TA sessions, and grading for the introductory CS class. Rakan's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics from Trinity College-Hartford, which he is set to complete in 2022. He also holds a High School Diploma from East Leyden High School. Rakan's technical expertise includes Software Engineering, Data Engineering, SQL, and Python. With 1.19 years of relevant experience, Rakan is committed to using his skills and knowledge to drive positive change in the education sector.
