Rakesh Emmadi is an experienced Engineer at hasura.io, with a focus on server-side application development in Haskell. He is an alumnus of IIT Madras and has an impressive skill set that includes functional programming with Haskell, SQL with PostgreSQL and MSSQL database, and server-side application development. Rakesh is currently working on building an instant GraphQL API on top of PostgreSQL and MSSQL, expanding database support for Hasura GraphQL Engine. With hands-on experience in Docker and Kubernetes, Rakesh is also familiar with Python, Java, and C. He has previously worked as an Intern at Quadratic Insights, where he modelled a Large Vocabulary Continuous Speech Recognition (LVCSR) system using an open-source toolkit, Kaldi, written in C++. Rakesh also automated the extraction of speech data from online audiobooks and filtering of corpus data using Python scripts with regular expressions, acquiring 25 hours of speech data within less than 30 minutes. He assisted a Data Scientist in implementing speech recognition in native Indian languages like Telugu by developing a phonetic dictionary for ~1500 Telugu words with more than 75% accuracy. As a Workshop Coordinator at Shaastra, Rakesh worked with a team of five students to organize workshops conducted by various companies. He attracted participation from ~250 students from various regions of India and directed participants in registering for workshops. Rakesh holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras. He completed his high school education in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry (MPC) from Sri Chaithanya Junior College, Hyderabad, and Krishnaveni Talent School, Kalwakurthy.
