Rakesh Kothari is a highly experienced and accomplished VP of Engineering at ThoughtSpot, a Google-like search engine for data analytics used by many Fortune 500 companies. With over 17 years of relevant experience, Rakesh is a seasoned leader in search, analytics, and data platforms. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Engineering at ThoughtSpot, Rakesh is responsible for leading the Core Search and App Infra teams. His team is in charge of search quality and ranking, personalization, language enhancements, natural language query interpretation, natural to SQL query generation, advanced query workflows, type-ahead auto-completions, entity storage and lifecycle management, and data and metadata security. Prior to his current role, Rakesh served as the Director of Engineering and Senior Staff Engineer at ThoughtSpot, where he helped architect, build, scale, test, innovate, and evangelize the search infrastructure, personalization platform, query generation engine, and metadata infrastructure. He also played a key role in hiring and building one of the best teams in Silicon Valley. Rakesh's education background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a Computer Science degree from TU Dortmund University, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Rakesh's technical expertise includes senior software engineering, search, infra, test, and SQL.
