Ram Papatla is the GM & India Engineering Lead, Android at Google, where he leads the development of one of the world's most popular mobile operating systems. With over 25 years of relevant experience in the tech industry, Ram has played a pivotal role in transforming the way people experience travel and mobile technology. Prior to joining Google, Ram served as the Vice President, Experiences at Booking.com, where he helped transform the company into a multi-product platform that offers a consistent travel experience to its users. He incubated new businesses such as the Global Flights product and cross-selling products/value to the core audience. Before that, Ram was a board member at the Product Management Festival, where he advised product management professionals and managers to learn, exchange, and improve. He delivered keynotes at the annual conference in Zurich in 2016 and 2020 and a few leadership sessions. Currently, he is an active instructor in partnership with INSEAD's Product Management Executive Education program, where he teaches courses on Product Strategy & Operations, Building New Business, and Leadership in Product. Ram's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from Andrews University and a degree from Manipal Institute of Technology. He has a strong tech stack that includes Android, Mobile, and product management. At Google, Ram leads the development of Android, which started as a bold idea to advance open standards in mobile and has since expanded to millions of TVs, cars, and wearables, enabling extensive innovation across these industries. He believes in driving broad accessibility of the mobile ecosystem and addressing unique needs of users in the ‘Next Billion Users’ markets like India.
