Raman Iyer is a highly experienced technology leader with over 28 years of relevant experience in software engineering, machine learning, product management, research science, and data science. Currently, he serves as the Director of Simulation and Experimentation at Amazon, where he leads the development of large-scale software infrastructure for the world-leading supply chain. In this role, he oversees a cross-functional team that includes software development, product management, research science, machine learning, and data science, and is responsible for the simulation and experimentation platform that enables rapid experimentation and data-driven decision-making under uncertainty at Amazon's scale. Prior to his current role, Raman served as the Director of Software Development at Amazon, where he led the Global Inventory Placement team responsible for engineering highly scalable, service-oriented distributed systems, researching and developing new algorithms, and deploying predictive models that continuously determine the optimal locations to place inventory across Amazon's worldwide fulfillment centers. Before joining Amazon, Raman served as the Principal Engineering Manager at Microsoft, where he led the engineering team for the core analytics storage engine for the Power BI service, bringing data insights to every user via interactive web-based dashboarding and reporting. Raman's technical expertise spans several areas, including software engineering, machine learning, infrastructure, product management, research science, data science, big data, senior software engineering, and web development. He is a highly skilled and experienced leader who has successfully delivered large-scale software infrastructure projects for some of the world's leading technology companies.
