Ramanpreet Singh Khinda is a Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn with over 10 years of experience in the technology field. He is a passionate Android developer and an avid hacker who loves participating in hackathons. He completed his Masters in Computer Science from University at Buffalo, New York, with specialization in Advance Software and Information Systems, after earning his Bachelors in Computer Science from NIT Jalandhar. Ramanpreet has worked in Academics, Startups, and Multinationals, shipping products that impact a specific customer to touching the lives of billions. His technical expertise includes fluency in Java, Android, Multithreaded applications, Peer-to-Peer, and Client/Server architecture. Currently, he is working on Platform Products (Snap Kit) at Snapchat, where he is responsible for bringing features inside Snapchat to external developers. In his previous role at Google, he worked as an acting Android Lead on Firebase Performance Team, where he worked on Firebase Performance Sessions, the Performance Monitoring Gradle plugin, and Realtime SDK clients, among others. He also won several awards at hackathons, including the Excellent Product Excellence Hackweek award at Firebase Hackweek in Q2 2019. At Open Garden Inc., he was one of the core developers of the Open Garden Project, where he worked on enhancing the peer-to-peer mesh networking protocol to provide a decentralized Internet access to their Android app users. He also built the pipeline for bi-directional communication between 2 android devices communicating over WiFi socket channel and the framework for the scan results parser to provide wrappers around Wi-Fi, Beacons, and Bonjour scan results that helped in improving detection of devices in range.
