Ramees P is a Technical Lead at upGrad, a leading global EdTech firm, with over 6 years of relevant experience in the software development industry. He started his career as a co-founder of a small service business, where he worked on a range of websites and applications, with a focus on automobile booking platforms, student management systems, and supermarket management systems. Ramees and his team developed an Android software called WhatsCut Pro, which allows users to share videos in their WhatsApp status by slicing them into 30-second parts. After WhatsCut Pro became a great hit with over one million downloads and two rounds of investment, they rebranded it as Funloop. Ramees' journey in the software development industry has been nothing short of impressive. He was eventually bought by The Gate Academy, where he was promoted to Senior Software Developer, Grade 4. After upGrad acquired The Gate Academy, Ramees was promoted to Tech Lead at upGrad, where he currently leads the mobile app team to complete the product successfully and on deadline. He has been instrumental in introducing MVVM to the React Native app to maximize code reuse with the web app, creating a project plan, assigning tasks to team members, and dividing work. Ramees has also ensured code quality by checking Pull Requests and recommending better practices. Ramees has developed several main features, including architectures and initial code setup for the team to work on, choosing and implementing a basic set of libraries for error tracking, async storage, network connectivity updating, and event tracking, among other things. He has also developed custom hooks for network connectivity, async storage, and event tracking, among other things, and created an automatic OTP reader using Android native modules. Before joining upGrad, Ramees worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer at upGrad, where he managed the mobile app team to deliver the product successfully and on time, created solution designs for junior developers and himself for business-critical features by communicating with and working with the product manager, and developed essential elements such as video players, test-taking features, and the majority of course delivery features. Ramees holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University and MTHSS.
