Ramón Lovato is a multi-talented individual with expertise in writing, music, and computer engineering. He is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Twitter, where he specializes in distributed systems. Ramón is responsible for developing a high-performance ad-serving platform that handles 1.5-2m QPS. He uses C++ for the core servers and Scala for the ~20 microservices. He utilizes Twitter's Finagle/Finatra stack for this project. Ramón is also a technical lead on a project to overhaul testing and tooling for all of MoPub. He created a platform for externalizing backend system internals so they were accessible to tests. He is also the TL on upgrade to support newer versions of the IAB specs; add support for new spec features; drop support for OpenRTB 2.1; clean up tech debt. Ramón has a diverse background in the tech industry. He has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of New Mexico and as a Lab Assistant at DeepStorage Labs. He has also developed an online platform for building and viewing interactive case studies using AngularJS. Additionally, he has instructed students in discrete mathematics and mid-level programming concepts in Java. Ramón has a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico. He also has an Associate of Arts in Japanese from City College of San Francisco, a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and has studied Creative Writing, Journalism, and Music at Columbia College Chicago and Writing and Music at Vassar College. Ramón is proficient in various technologies, including Kafka, Microservices, Scala, Java, and UI. He is also a co-designer and contributor to Creative Quality pipeline, which performs real-time deduplication and pacing calculations to reduce the creatives from MoPub’s ~300k/sec. auction wins down to 20/sec. He utilizes Heron, Kafka Streams, and Finatra. Ramón is a skilled software engineer with over 16 years of relevant experience.
