Rand Davis is an experienced software engineering leader with a successful track record of cultivating and fostering innovative, effective, and collaborative teams that deliver business-critical solutions. Currently serving as the Vice President of Software Engineering at Aetion, Rand is responsible for directing the Data Analytics team, Site Reliability Engineering team, SDET team, and Quality Assurance Automation team. Rand's expertise lies in technical strategy, organizational design, team building, and distributed systems architecture. He has a successful track record of implementing tailored agile methodologies into both new and established business environments. With over 18 years of relevant experience, Rand has also worked as the VP of Software Engineering at Eight Sleep, where he established the right-fit agile processes and organizational structure to increase predictability and capability for the team to scale. He also acted as an individual contributor to improve engineering maturity in key areas by developing monitoring and alerting, load testing, and automating firmware build/release processes. Prior to his role at Eight Sleep, Rand served as the Head of Software Engineering at Jet Black, where he was responsible for hiring and leading a 50-person engineering organization that produced flexible, sustainable technology by embracing a mix of start-up empowerment and mature engineering principles. He was also a member of the executive team and reported directly to the CEO, where he strategized and implemented the technical and product mission. Additionally, Rand is an inventor on a business-critical patent for conversational product recommendation technology. Rand holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Suffolk University. His tech stack includes SRE, SDET, QA, Senior Software Engineer, test, ML, Data Scientist, iOS, Frontend, and Backend.
