Founded in 2014, x.ai builds and maintains an artificial intelligence powered personal assistant that schedules meetings for the business customers. User only needs to CC amy@x.ai into email thread and then Amy reads email text to get relevant meeting details to schedule a meeting. Raised Series B round of $23M in April, 2016 from Softbank and others. Based out of NYC, US. Subscription charges: free for personal uses (5 meetings/month), $39/month for professional, and $59/month for business purposes.

Worked primarily on providing fast access to certain views of financial data sets.

- Included using Linked Data Platform technologies to expose data from different data sets using queries in a custom query language.

- Developed a system to allow views into a certain data set (stored in Datomic) that supports most operations that can be done in a SQL query.

Developed a loader pipeline using scalaz­stream that had to consume GBs of data from FTP feeds into a transactional store.

Worked in smaller capacities at other points of the data pipeline.

In no particular order, things I've learnt/done there:

- Adding features to a large legacy code base while maintaining a high standard of code quality

- Benefiting from rigorous TDD in hospitable code environments and what an inhospitable environment looks like

- Embracing continuous integration and in some cases deployment

- Working and communicating with remote teams

- Spreading scala knowledge within the organisation through code reviews, pairing and lightning talks

- An appreciation for functional programming (mostly through scala and some haskell) and the pros and cons of pushing your programs to be purely functional

- Using a type system to express constraints as types instead of tests

On Sept. 15, 1956, the Parliament of India passed an act known as the Indian Institute of Technology(Kharagpur) Act declaring this Institute as an Institute of national importance. The Institute was also given the status of an autonomous University. From this modest start in 1950, IIT Kharagpur has been engaged in a steady process of development with about 27 academic departments and schools, 7 centres of excellence. the vast tree-laden campus, spreading over 2100 acres has a self contained township of over 15,000 inhabitants. Currently we have about 600 faculty, 1700 employees and 10000 students on the campus.

Besides the usual reporter's tasks of gathering information about happenings around the IIT Kharagpur campus and penning them down. I also help maintain The Scholars' Avenue's online presence at http://scholarsavenue.org
