Reed McBride is a seasoned executive, operator, and investor with over a decade of experience in the start-up and venture capital industry. Currently serving as the Vice President of Business Development at Carta, Reed is responsible for leading the company's business development organization, which includes in-market reps and strategic specialists across the country. He is a former start-up and venture capital attorney who loves working with great entrepreneurs and helping founders who are looking to make a positive impact on the world. At Carta, Reed has spearheaded the launch of Carta Launch, the company's first freemium offering, from concept to scaled execution, revitalizing the core business's go-to-market strategy and bringing in hundreds of additional accounts per month alongside traditional sales channels. He has also led Carta's strategic BD efforts, standing up the Carta Startup Stack, aligning with key ecosystem players, and informing Carta's partner API strategy. Moreover, Reed has renewed and deepened Carta's relationships with key ecosystem partners, including leading law firms, creating new programs to funnel feedback to inform product strategy. In addition to his current role, Reed has held various positions at Carta, including Head of Business Development and Director of Channel Strategy. He has exceeded revenue targets every quarter and led the company's business development organization, which is responsible for appx. 50% of newly sourced revenue for the company's core business. Reed holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He has relevant experience in senior software engineering, AWS, and infra, and has represented Carta via numerous speaking engagements, including AWS Startup Day, Pitchbook/NVCA, On Deck, Latitud, 500 Startups, Startupgrind, and Carta webinars.
