Hands on management of a small  engineering and DevOps team.  My team focuses on AudiencePartners’ custom DSP, DMP, and it’s privacy compiler.  Big data, real-time processing, high volume OTP systems in Python, Django, C, Java and JavaScript (with some legacy PHP) on Linux VMs.

The CEO describes this role as "Big Hat, No Cattle".  In this role, I am responsible for all technology choices, direction, overarching architecture planning and implementation.  

It's a mentoring, managing and hands-on prototyping, direction-setting role that evolves and changes as the company does.

Very hands-on: python, django, postgres, mysql, linux (debian), scrum/agile

This was a turn-around role.   Tucows had experienced many changes in the operations team from exec thru to jr. admin.  The ops team was in chaos and run ragged.  

By establishing some prioritization, facilitating the move to agile and virtualization and rebuilding the decrepit email system with a small team we managed to bring order out of the chaos.  99.995% availability is a goal this team reaches month after month now.

Webkrew is a management division overseeing operations, software development, and support for several of the largest adult web entertainment brands on the Internet, comprising over 10,000 websites and domains.

This role was split between:
- contract negotiations with network and hosting providers
- operational overhaul of dev and ops departments
- project management and oversight
- overall architectural responsibility

Great lessons learned from this experience:
- do not repeat
- DDOSs can be huge and interesting, but avoided with good net design
- the importance of seconds during a live transaction
- many others :)

Its solution suite includes BSS, OSS, NFV, Big Data, customer experiences, OTT monetization, Ad network monetization, and MVNE solutions coupled with professional and managed services.

Author, dev manager, consultant, integrator, trainer, chief bottle washer and cork puller for Solect.  Started as employee #5 and wrote the BSS system that became Solect's focus ("IAF: Internet Administration Framework").  Solect grew to 800 people and was acquired at the height of the bubble by Amdocs for $1.6B.

Vendor management, project management and data-centre build-out.

Budget management, staff management, architectural responsibility, project oversight and M&A preparations.

I|Money was acquired by the Toronto Sun in Feb of 1999.
