Rishi Kelkar is a skilled Trainee Design Engineer at DEMECH with a focus on mechanical equipment design in the automotive and bulk material handling sectors. He has a strong background in developing new concepts, designing and creating design calculations for Chain conveyors, Screw conveyors, paddle mixers, and Bucket elevators. He is also proficient in 2D and 3D designing, releasing technical datasheets for procurement, designing expansion bellows, and performing structural analysis of platforms and supports. Rishi is capable of handling installation site problems, creating quick solutions, and effective and safe modifications. He has worked extensively on FEA software platforms, predominantly LS-Dyna, to carry out vehicle to pedestrian crash analysis simulations. He has identified injury mechanics by using front impact and side pole impact regulations and modified and optimized rear structures of the vehicle to reduce the risk of pedestrian fatality and injury. In addition, Rishi has worked on a number of group projects and individual assignments that supported his skill development in the automotive field. He has familiarized himself with control systems by working on a thorough assignment involving PID controllers and signal control. As a group, they worked on the design and optimization of a 1.2 l, 4-cylinder engine, optimized vehicle crash structures for different materials, and analyzed stresses on vehicle gearbox housings. They also designed an electronic parking/auxiliary braking system for an 18-tonne truck using the ECE regulations. Rishi has studied the detailed functioning of tribology in engines, including the layout of turbochargers and the ideal response situation. He has learned about engine materials, fatigue testing, and friction reduction for multi-cylinder engines, as well as the effects of different fuels and lubrication. During his bachelor's degree, Rishi founded his university formula student team, where they designed and built a car to participate in formula Bharat 2017. He worked on the chassis design and headed the powertrain division where they designed a prototype electronic gear shifter. Rishi has worked as a Technical Reviewer at Cactus Communications and as a Research Assistant at Powerweave, where he is currently developing an e-commerce platform 'Below 2' to promote B2B trade in the sustainability field. He is researching the sustainability certifying standards in the five major verticals, developing a directory to list out certified suppliers under the verticals, and liaising with different standards to understand their shortfalls and long-term client target evaluation.
